The leadership committees are critical to keeping our gardens looking good, growing food, and generally good places to be. They are non-exclusionary public spaces for anyone and everyone to gather. Gardeners are the first to notice a broken wheel barrow, a grumpy neighbor, or an abandoned plot. Gardeners also get to know each other well, year after year, because you all are there weekly if not daily to tend your plots. In other words, we count on our garden leaders to communicate issues to us as well as handle them on the ground. Garden Leadership Committees will help our gardens run more smoothly, solve problems faster, and help you all to dig even deeper into your communities.
Leadership Committee members are asked to commit to either a three or six year term. Members can renew once. After two terms, they must take a year off before returning.
Joining the leadership committee is a bit like joining the board of an organization – think of it as a board of directors for your garden. The commitment throughout the season, with the greatest number of hours needed at the beginning and end of the season and around workdays. It is a time commitment of anywhere between one to five hours a week, five hours during the busiest periods.
