Community Gardens Opening Day 2018!
Last Saturday was Opening Day for our community gardens. Over 380 community garden plots were rented to more than 230 Missoula households across town at Garden City Harvest’s nine community garden sites.
Rain or shine, blizzard or blinding sun, Opening Day is always an exciting event. It is the day when new community gardeners pick out their plot and see their new community garden for the first time. It also signifies the beginning of the gardening season for many returning community gardeners as well.
We were lucky with the weather! The rain came and went in early morning, and by early afternoon, the sun warmed the backs of many gardeners who stayed and tilled their soil.
We are all excited to see what this growing season brings. Check out the photos from Opening Day below.
Note: If you are interested in your own community garden plot, please apply online to be put on the waitlist at www.gardencityharvest.org/community-gardens.
