Each of our community gardens provides participants with an approximate 15 by 15 foot plot, tools, water, compost, straw, common space and the knowledge and guidance of leadership committee members and the Garden City Harvest community gardens staff. With these resources, and a little bit of persistence and patience, gardeners cultivate food for their family (and often their friends, too).
Our gardens are places where longtime growers and newcomers garden together, learn from each other, and share resources. Gardens reduce stress on food budgets. They teach an essential skill: how to grow our own food. Gardens mean self-sufficiency, pride, and the taste of a homegrown tomato.
Disclaimer: With the bounty of positives that comes with community gardening, it can also be a challenge. Expect hard work, dedication, and time commitment.

Garden with Us!
Deadline to apply is March 17th, 2017. Applications received after March 17th will be added to the wait list. We will be conducting a lottery and awarding plots in late March, 2017. Opening Day will be April 15th, 2017.
*Please note: Currently, all gardens are full! Apply to be on the wait list for the 2017 season.
We have a limited number of scholarships available which provide a full or partial waiver of the $40 plot rental fee. Recipients must still pay the $15 plot deposit, which will be refunded after Closing Day in October if the plot has been cleaned and winterized. To apply for a scholarship, download the online form and email a completed copy to email@example.com or drop it by our office. Scholarship applications are due by Friday, April 8.
Don’t know which garden? Here’s a list and a map!
If you’ve never had a plot with us, you will need to fill out a New Gardener Application which you can do online or by mail (download form here). We usually get more applications than we have garden plots, so gardeners will be selected by lottery and desired garden location. You will be notified before in the beginning of April if you received a garden plot. All gardeners are required to be at Opening Day (April 15th). On Opening Day, new gardeners get a tour of their garden and get to select their plot on a first come, first served basis.
Gardeners on the Wait list
While you might not get a plot in the first year you apply, we keep an active waiting list that we work through the entire season. If you do not receive a plot the first season, you’ll be given priority the following growing season. Feel free to contact us if you have questions about where your application stands.
