Farm to School Apprentice (Seasonal, May–August)

Love working with kids, being outside, and growing food that feeds your community? Join Garden City Harvest as a Farm to School Apprentice and spend your summer teaching elementary students where food comes from—on our neighborhood farms and in school gardens.

This seasonal, paid apprenticeship is a hands-on role supporting our Farm to School program through educational field trips, summer camps, and improvement projects at the PEAS Farm and Missoula-area school gardens. Apprentices help lead farm-based learning experiences, support youth programs, and contribute to meaningful farm and garden projects—including working with livestock.

You’ll gain experience in outdoor education, sustainable agriculture, and nonprofit food systems, while working closely with a collaborative team that believes farming and teaching are powerful tools for community health and connection. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, feels comfortable engaging with young people, and is excited to learn by doing.

Details:

  • Early May–late August (20–25 hrs/week)

  • $16.40/hour + two paid holidays and a small CSA share

  • Mostly weekday hours, with flexibility

  • Based at the PEAS Farm and local school gardens
