This workshop will be led by Emily Kern-Swaffar, Community Gardens Director, and Alexandra Brown, Community Education Coordinator.

Emily has a degree in Landscape Architecture, started a business focusing on edible and native landscaping-Harvestscapes Design- and has worked for the Community Gardens program for the last 5 years. Her roots run deep in the wonderful world of plants. Stop by the Providence Garden to see her passion for gardening in action. What Emily loves most about gardening is how it brings people together and provides endless opportunities to try new things!

Alex took on the role of Community Education Coordinator following two years of farming at River Road. She attended the University of Montana, majoring in Sociology and minoring in Environmental Studies, worked on multiple small-scale farms, and received her certificate in permaculture design. Her time farming fostered a love of cooking, preserving and sharing food. Her mission as Community Education Coordinator is to honor our local farmers and food system by empowering individuals to grow and eat local food.
