  • Garden City Harvest 1657 River Road Missoula United States (map)

WORKSHOP DETAILS

Join us to learn the basics and start yourself off on the right foot as you begin your gardening adventure.

This workshop is tailored for brand new gardeners, gardeners new to the Missoula climate, or gardeners who are feeling a lack of confidence as the growing season approaches. We will cover basic information regarding Missoula’s climate and growing season, the best crops for beginning gardeners, and fundamental gardening techniques and strategies.

Alexandra Brown, Community Education Coordinator, and Emily Kern Swaffar, Community Gardens Director, will lead you through the basics for growing food in Missoula. There will be plenty of time for discussion, so bring your questions and concerns!

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS

Alexandra Brown instructs workshops both in the kitchen and garden, and facilitates our workshop series as the Community Education Coordinator. From apprenticing with a Master Preserver to working on several farms, she knows her way around the kitchen and garden!

Emily Kern Swaffar is our Community Gardens Director and provides tremendous insight as an instructor for our garden workshops. With a degree in Landscape Architecture, her Permaculture Design Certificate, and a business focused on edible and native landscaping, her roots run deep in the world of growing your own food.

SLIDING SCALE
